Hello Friends, The origin of the word “sausage” is derived from Latin “salsus” and that meaning would not be another that “skipped or salty”, which would only refer to one of the first ways that men found to preserve their food. These sausages began to develop in Europe, where it started to be a popular snack eaten at festivals. Christianity  disapproved it and consumption was banned throughout the Roman Empire. Starting smuggling sausages. Given the impossibility of halting their consumption, again cleared its free consumption, which spread throughout Europe. During the Middle Ages, each village developed an inlaid with own characteristics and identity.

Ingredients:

6 Slices bread (trim crust)
1 lb Sausage
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 c grates Swiss cheese
3 Eggs, slightly beaten
1 3/4 c Half & half
1/4 tsp salt
dash Pepper
dash Nutmeg
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Directions:

Place bread in well buttered casserole to cover bottom.

Cook sausage in skillet until done.  Drain off fat.

Mix with mustard.

Sprinkle sausage evenly over bread, sprinkle cheese over sausage.

Combine eggs, milk and seasonings. Pour over casserole.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until set in middle.

Serve immediately.

Personal Suggestion: This casserole freezers well. Remove from freezer the night before and place in refregerator. Bake the next morning.  Enjoy  this  great  recipe  with family and  friends.
