Hello Friends, this next recipe “Arroz con Guandules” is a delicious Puerto Rican recipe. The rice is the most important food of two thirds of the population of the planet. Rice cereal is healthy and has nutritious qualities it become perfect in any type of diet or nutritional requirements. Enjoy this great rice recipe with your family.
Ingredients:
2 cups long grain rice (rinsed)
3 1/2 cups of boiling water
1 1/2 cups of smoked cooking ham
2 Tablespoons of sofrito
16 ounce can of gandules (pigeon peas)
one packet of Sazon with achiote
4 ounces of tomato sauce
2 Tablespoons of oil
Salt to taste
Directions:
In a saucepan put the smoked ham with a little oil.
Add the tomato sauce, the sofrito and the achiote; stir together. Cook at medium heat for 5 minutes.
Add all other ingredients except the salt, put the boiling water into the saucepant, add the rice. (the rice is submerge one inch below the water).
Insert 1 teaspoon of salt stir and keep adding and mixing well to your taste.
Cook uncovered pot until the rice absorb the water.
Once absorbed stir gently from bottom to top, cover and turn the heat down to low.
Stirring once in between cook for 25 to 30 minutes or until the rice is tender.
Serve immediately.
Personal Suggestion: this Delicious recipe is a traditional dish from Puerto Rico, yo can serve this rice with pork roast and fried bananas.
